X-FAB Sarawak at a glance

In 2005, X-FAB Sarawak became part of the X-FAB group. Due to its modern manufacturing capabilities the site has become one of the cornerstones of X-FAB.  

Kuching is the capital of Sarawak, Malaysia's largest state on the island of Borneo. Sarawak has a wealth of natural resources, clean air and abundant electricity. The last is an important requirement for being able to produce at the site. With currently more than 1,200 employees, the site manufactures 8-inch wafers in the CMOS and HV-SOI technology. The site can already look back on a long history in the field of semiconductor manufacturing.

In 1998, the factory was opened as Malaysia's first semiconductor manufacturing facility under the name 1st Silicon. In the course of time, the company merged with X-FAB and was finally renamed X-FAB Sarawak in November 2006. Currently, the following functions are located at the site: Finance & controlling, facilities, procurement, human resources, IT, logistics, manufacturing, module engineering, quality, sales & marketing, technology,
